Step Up To A Healthy You

Celebrate womanhood because every woman deserves the best. Give your lifestyle a healthy kick by taking these tips to heart.

Step Up To A Healthy You

Give Doc A Regular Visit

You may be reluctant to have a check-up regularly — you think it’s a waste of time and money and figure you just need to do it if you get sick — but as they say, prevention is part of the cure. It’s way cheaper to stay healthy than to fall sick and pay for more expensive medicine and treatment. Think of this way: You’ll be saving yourself plenty of bucks and allotting more quality time with your loved ones if you keep yourself in tip-top shape by visiting your doctor regularly.

Get Into An Exercise Regimen And A Healthy Diet

Think you don’t have the time and luxury to do this? Think again. Eating healthy and getting into the fitness groove doesn’t need to be costly and time-consuming. Sneak in fruits and veggies for breakfast, lunch and dinner and see the difference it makes to your skin and well-being. If you can’t spare three hours a week for gym time, try these tricks. Use the stairs instead of the elevator, make walking a habit (i.e. trot to the nearby sari-sari store instead of taking a tricycle), or do some stretching every morning. You’ll feel more energized and less prone to fatigue.

Spend Time With Family And Friends

Nothing beats chasing away stress than having some quality time with your family and friends. And it doesn’t need to be expensive either. Pop in your favorite family DVDs and watch a movie together, ask everybody to pitch in while whipping up a delicious, home-cooked meal, or go to Mass together. It’ll strengthen your bonds and give you memories that are worth more than any other expensive trip or meal in the world.

Take Up A Hobby Or Interest

Your first priority is your family but that doesn’t mean you should lose yourself in the role of motherhood. Get your creative juices flowing and take up painting, playing an instrument, pottery — anything that will relax, inspire, and rejuvenate your soul. It’s a great confidence booster too!

Practice Birth Spacing

Given the difficult economy our country is experiencing today, raising a family is not as easy (read: inexpensive) as it used to be. It’s best to be practical and practice family planning. That way, by spacing births at least two years apart, you have more time for your health to recover. Get into the habit of taking oral contraceptive pills — it’s an affordable and a more convenient method of birth spacing. All you need to do is pop a pill once a day at a certain time (set your phone’s alarm so you won’t forget) and you’re all set. Plus, a new contraceptive pill helps clear up your skin by regulating your hormones, so taking pills has more than one bonus.
