Bleeding Down There

Spotting not related to your flow can have several causes.

Bleeding Down There

You just went on the Pill.

It often takes a few months for your body to adjust to the Pill’s artificial hormones, which can result in light to moderate spotting during that time.

You’re ovulating.

When a mature egg pops out of its follicle and is released into the fallopian tube, it can actually trigger light, bright-red spotting. It’s annoying, but totally normal. It’s only cause for concern if the bleeding doesn’t stop after a day or becomes heavier.

You have chlamydia.

As the bacteria that cause this sexually transmitted disease infect your cervix, you may see drops of blood in your underwear or when you pee. If you notice this, call your gyne. She will test you and can give you meds to cure the infection before it potentially damages your upper reproductive tract.
